How to Reuse the Last of Your Candle Wax to Make Wax Melts

We all know the feeling when your favorite candle is almost gone, and there’s still that little bit of wax left at the bottom. Well, instead of throwing that candle away, you can turn it into wax melts and keep enjoying that scent! This simple DIY project is quick, easy, and requires only a few items. You can even pick up the items from the Dollar Tree for something a little more  budget-friendly.
Well here's what you’ll need!:
  •  Leftover candle wax
  • A silicone mold (can find some at Dollar Tree, baking sections, or use silicone ice trays)
  • Microwave-safe container
  • Optional: glitter, dried flowers, or essential oils
Instructions:
  1. Remove the Hardened Wax from Your Candle Jar-If the wax isn’t already melted, place the candle jar in the freezer for a few hours. The cold causes the wax to shrink and detach from the jar’s sides. After freezing, use a butter knife along the edges to pop out the wax.
  2. Melt the Wax in the Microwave- Break the leftover wax into small chunks and place them in a microwave-safe container. Heat the wax in 15-20 second intervals, stirring between each burst until it’s fully melted. Be careful not to overheat. It should just be liquefied.
  3. Prepare Your Silicone Mold- Set your silicone mold on a flat surface. These molds are perfect because they make it easy to pop out the wax melts once hardened. If you don't have any at home, you can find them at Dollar Tree or in the baking section of the grocery store. You can usually find some pretty cool ones shaped like fruit or something cute for the holidays.
  4. Customize Your Wax Melts (Optional)- If you want to get creative, sprinkle glitter or dried flowers into the molds before adding the wax. You can also stir a few drops of essential oils into the melted wax for an extra fragrance boost.
  5. Pour the Wax into the Mold- Carefully pour the melted wax into the mold. Leave a bit of space at the top to avoid spills. Let the wax cool and harden completely. This will usually take a few hours at room temperature.
  6. Pop Out the Wax Melts- Once the wax has fully hardened, gently push the molds from the bottom to pop out your wax melts. Store them in an airtight container to keep the fragrance fresh

How to Use Your DIY Wax Melts

Place your wax melts into your wax warmer or oil burner. As they melt, they’ll release the scent, filling your space with the fragrance of your favorite candle.
**Bonus Tips**
  • Mix wax from different candles to create your own unique scent combinations.
  • Wax melts make great gifts! Package them in a cute jar or box for a personal touch.
  • One thing with wax melts that you can't do with candles is, if the wax isn’t fragrant enough, you can add essential oils to amplify the scent.
So, give your candle wax a second life! With just a little effort, you can turn leftover candle wax into wax melts; reducing waste and extending the life of your favorite scents. No fancy tools required, just a microwave, a silicone mold, and some creativity!
So, the next time your candle burns low, don’t toss it! Freeze, melt, and pour your way to new wax melts and enjoy the fragrance all over again!
Happy crafting!
